We are proud to announce the winners of the Nashville Blues Challenge finals!

The NBS will be sending these acts to represent Nashville in the International Blues Challenge, being held in Memphis, TN,  January  31- February 4, 2012.

We congratulate the 16 bands, and 5 Solo/Duo acts that participated in this years event. All of you are amazing, and are helping us build the  blues community here in Nashville. We had a great time, and look forward to next years competition.

Results for the preliminary playoffs have been verified! The bands listed below will be heading to the finals, Sunday November 13, at the Hard Rock Cafe.

The NBS wants to thank all of the great bands that participated. You were all amazing, and you are all winners! We had a blast, and appreciate your support for the blues in Nashville.

We also want to congratulate our Nashville Blues Challenge Finalists in the Solo/Duo category;
Jake Hill and Kyle Knutson will move on to the final round at the Hard Rock Cafe, Nov. 13.


The International Blues Challenge (IBC) is held every year in Memphis. The IBC represents an international search by the Blues Foundation and its affiliated organizations (mostly blues societies from the US and abroad) for Blues Bands and Solo/Duo Blues acts ready to headline national and international stages, but needing the extra break that winning or placing in the competition provides. It has evolved into the world’s biggest and most respected showcase for Blues musicians. The IBC is a judged “Battle of the Bands” in which competitors take the stage and play a short set for a panel of experts from the blues world. The acts are judged based on an established set of criteria, which includes Blues Content, Instrumental Talent, Vocal Talent, Originality, and Stage Presence.
The Nashville Blues Society will be holding our own competition this year, open to any eligible local blues band or solo/duo act within our membership and region. The selected winner in each category (Band and Solo/Duo) will be sent to the 28th International Blues Challenge, scheduled for January 31 thru February 4, 2012.
The Nashville Blues Challenge preliminary and semi-finals competitions will take place November 7-10, 2011 at World Music Nashville and culminate with the final competition being held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Hard Rock Cafe. We’ll see you there!
